Healing is Possible
Trauma therapy can help you find freedom and healing.
The weight of trauma can feel overwhelming. We are here to help. Trauma work is about balancing both our emotions and our biology.
We work to address the emotions that weigh us down, while helping our brains create new patterns of safety and security in our present environment.
By asking “what happened to you?” instead of “what’s wrong with you?”, we get past shame and stigma, and into the root of your distress.
Making the decision to take steps towards healing is one of the hardest parts of the journey.
Often times, we have adapted to live with the impact of our past–coping with the anxious thoughts, sweaty palms, bad dreams, strain in our relationships, and challenges in creating comfortable intimacy.
As trauma therapists, we want you to remember that YOU are the most important part of the trauma healing process.
It is a common misconception that trauma work requires us to painstakingly recount everything that we have experienced.
How far we lean into the trauma, how much of your story you chose to share, and the pace that we work at is entirely up to you.
Whole Body Trauma Healing
Our therapists are trained in multiple different approaches to healing trauma. Once a consultation has been completed (generally 1-2 sessions), you and your therapist will decide the best approach for you.
It is important to remember that before processing any trauma, your therapist will work with you on building coping skills and resources to ensure that you are able to process trauma safely.
Our approaches include
Cognitive Processing Therapy
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Internal Family Systems Therapy
Our Approach To Trauma Work
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
ART is a solution-focused approach similar to EMDR. ART uses eye movements to desensitize and reprocess our memories by removing disturbing images and narratives, and replacing them with more helpful ones.
ART is effective for trauma, along with many other conditions. It works quickly–often providing relief in only 1-2 sessions.
Internal Family Systems
In IFS, we examine the different “parts” of ourselves to gain a better understanding of how and why we think, act, and feel.
By understanding our wounded inner children, our managing parts, and the parts of us that exist to “put out the fire”; we build insight, work to reparent our inner child, and find relief.
Cognitive Processing Therapy
CPT for trauma is a structured form of therapy where we examine our cognitions, thought distortions, and core beliefs about ourselves and the trauma we have experienced.
By challenging the ways our thoughts and beliefs distort our perceptions, we are able to work through the shame, guilt and stigma around our trauma. CPT moves us from “what is wrong with me?” to “what happened to me?”
